Highly configurable, open-source terminal emulator with integrated SSH, Telnet, and serial clients for Windows, macOS, and Linux, formerly known as Terminus.
Tabby is a modern terminal emulator that replaces conhost, PowerShell ISE, PuTTY, Terminal.app, and iTerm with a single cross-platform app for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It includes an integrated SSH and Telnet client with a full connection manager, X11 and port forwarding, automatic jump host handling, and agent forwarding, alongside a serial terminal with hex input and automatic reconnection. The interface supports nested split panes, tabs on any edge of the window, a dockable Quake-style console, and fully configurable single- and multi-chord keyboard shortcuts. On Windows, Tabby provides a proper shell experience with tab completion via Clink and support for PowerShell, WSL, Git-Bash, Cygwin, MSYS2, and Cmder. It can run as a portable app, transfers files over SSH via Zmodem, and stores SSH secrets in an encrypted container. A plugin and theming system, installable directly from Tabby's settings, extends functionality with Docker integration, MCP server support for AI assistants, custom themes, and more, and an SSH/Telnet/Serial client is also available as a web app.
