About Squoosh

Squoosh is an open-source image compression web app developed by Google Chrome Labs. It reduces image file sizes across numerous formats including WebP, AVIF, JPEG, PNG, and more, with side-by-side before and after comparison. All image compression happens entirely in the browser using local processing, meaning images are never sent to a server. Squoosh does use Google Analytics to collect basic visitor data and before/after image size values, as well as installation details if used as a Progressive Web App. The app can be run locally for development using Node.js and npm, and is fully open to community contributions.
