Back to HomeLocal-first AI e-book reader with RAG chat, semantic search, highlights, TTS, and WebDAV sync across desktop and mobile.
ReadAny is an AI-native e-book reader that turns a personal library into a searchable, chattable knowledge base. It supports hybrid vector retrieval plus BM25 search so readers can find concepts even without the exact keyword, and lets users chat with their books through a RAG pipeline that's grounded in their current reading position, selections, and highlights. Local embeddings and a local vector store keep this offline-capable, while users can connect their own OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Ollama, or DeepSeek API keys for AI features. Beyond chat, it offers instant translation across 19 languages, a built-in and customizable Skills system (summarizer, concept explainer, character tracker, etc.), five-color highlighting with hover-preview notes, a Markdown note editor, and export to Markdown, HTML, JSON, Obsidian, or Notion formats. Text-to-speech runs through Edge TTS, browser TTS, or DashScope with over 100 voices and background playback, and reading statistics include a GitHub-style heatmap, trend charts, and streak tracking. Libraries sync across devices via WebDAV with automatic background sync and conflict resolution. Format support covers EPUB, PDF, MOBI, AZW/AZW3, FB2, FBZ, CBZ, TXT, and UMD. The desktop app is built with Tauri 2 and Rust, the mobile app with Expo/React Native, and the frontend with React 19 and TypeScript; it ships for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android.
