OpenClaw is an open-source personal AI assistant platform designed to run entirely on user-owned infrastructure and devices while integrating with real-world messaging platforms, voice interfaces, automation workflows, and live visual canvases. Built as a local-first AI gateway, OpenClaw supports channels including WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Signal, iMessage, Microsoft Teams, Matrix, IRC, Google Chat, LINE, WeChat, Twitch, and many others. It provides a unified multi-channel inbox, AI agent routing, voice wake interactions, live collaborative canvases, automation tools, skills systems, and secure sandboxed sessions for personal or team AI workflows. OpenClaw includes desktop and mobile companion apps for macOS, iOS, and Android, supports local and cloud AI providers, and focuses heavily on privacy, self-hosting, and user-controlled AI infrastructure. Developers can extend the platform with tools, skills, automation jobs, webhooks, browser integrations, and custom agent configurations. The project is built with TypeScript, Node.js, pnpm workspaces, and companion platform applications while offering Docker, Nix, and local deployment options.
