Open-source, Docker-based mail server providing a full-featured, self-hosted email solution with IMAP, SMTP, webmail, and strong security features.
Mailu is a simple yet fully featured, open-source mail server stack built using Docker containers. It is designed to make self-hosting email systems easy to deploy and maintain while avoiding proprietary components and unnecessary groupware complexity. Mailu provides a complete email infrastructure including SMTP, IMAP, and submission services, along with web-based administration and webmail interfaces. It supports modern email standards and security practices such as enforced TLS, DKIM signing, SPF, DMARC, MTA-STS, and DANE. The system also integrates anti-spam and anti-virus protection, greylisting, attachment filtering, and automated learning mechanisms to improve mail filtering accuracy over time. Additional features include domain and alias management, user-level auto-replies, forwarding, fetched accounts, Sieve filtering, quotas, and per-domain administration controls. Mailu is commonly used by individuals, organizations, and self-hosting enthusiasts who want a privacy-respecting and fully controllable email server stack deployed via containers.
