Horizontally scalable, multi-tenant log aggregation system designed for cloud-native environments with Prometheus-style labels and low-cost log storage.
Grafana Loki is an open-source log aggregation platform developed by Grafana Labs and designed for efficient, cost-effective observability in modern cloud-native infrastructures. Inspired by Prometheus, Loki uses a label-based indexing model instead of full-text indexing, allowing it to store compressed, unstructured logs while dramatically reducing storage and operational costs compared to traditional logging systems. Loki integrates tightly with Grafana and Prometheus, enabling users to correlate logs and metrics using shared labels across Kubernetes clusters, containers, and distributed services. The platform is horizontally scalable, highly available, and multi-tenant, making it suitable for large-scale production deployments. Loki is commonly used for Kubernetes logging, container monitoring, infrastructure observability, DevOps workflows, incident investigation, and centralized log management. A typical Loki stack includes Grafana Alloy for log collection, Loki for storage and querying, and Grafana for visualization and analytics. Loki supports both monolithic and microservices architectures, Docker integrations, CLI tools, Helm deployments, and cloud-native operational workflows.
