About HomeBox

HomeBox is an inventory and organization system built specifically for home users, designed around simplicity, speed, and portability. Written in Go, it runs with minimal resources — idle memory usage for the whole container is typically under 50MB — and uses SQLite with an embedded web UI, making it easy to deploy, use, and back up as a single self-contained package. Items can be organized into categories, locations, and tags, with custom fields available for storing additional details, and a powerful search feature helps quickly locate anything in the inventory. Users can upload images of items, track important documents and warranties, and log purchase dates, prices, and maintenance schedules. The responsive interface works across desktops, tablets, and smartphones. HomeBox ships as a Docker container with standard, rootless, and hardened image variants, and is community-translated via a dedicated Weblate instance. This repository is a community-maintained continuation of the original HomeBox project by hay-kot. It's released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0.
