About GridPlayer

GridPlayer is a simple, cross-platform media player built on VLC that can play multiple videos simultaneously in a configurable grid layout, limited only by available hardware. It supports every video and audio format VLC supports, and can play back nearly any streaming URL through integrated Streamlink and yt-dlp support. Videos can be dragged and dropped to swap positions in the grid, and each video's playback position, volume, loop points (with frame-level precision), and aspect ratio settings are retained when saving a playlist. GridPlayer offers both hardware and software video decoding modes, with hardware decoding split across configurable parallel decoder processes to balance performance and stability. It's cross-platform, running on Windows, macOS (Apple Silicon), and Linux, distributed via native installers, Flathub, Snap, AppImage, PyPI, or `uv tool install`, and supports internationalization with translations contributed by the community through Crowdin. GridPlayer is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0.
