Self-hosted, open-source fitness tracking service similar to Strava, built for full control over your activity data and hosting environment.
Endurain is a self-hosted fitness tracking service designed to give users full control over their data and hosting environment, positioned as a privacy-and-customization-focused alternative to Strava. It's built with a Vue.js 3 and TypeScript frontend using Tailwind CSS and shadcn-vue components, and a Python FastAPI backend with SQLAlchemy, backed by PostgreSQL for data storage and Jaeger for observability. The platform integrates directly with Strava and Garmin Connect for activity syncing, and also supports manual upload of .gpx, .tcx, and .fit files. Deployment is handled through an official Docker image with an example docker-compose configuration, and settings are managed through environment variables for easy customization. The project is developed in the open on Codeberg, with a GitHub presence maintained only as a read-only mirror, and supports multi-language localization through Codeberg Translate. Endurain is currently in a temporary feature freeze while the team strengthens the project's technical foundations before resuming new feature work. The codebase is licensed under AGPL-3.0, and 'Endurain' is a registered trademark restricted from commercial use without permission, though self-hosting and non-commercial use of the name and logo are explicitly welcomed.
