Back to HomeOpen-source, self-hostable web audio player that synchronizes playback across multiple devices with millisecond accuracy, plus spatial audio controls for multi-speaker setups.
Beatsync is a browser-based audio player built to turn any group of devices into a synchronized multi-speaker sound system, using NTP-inspired time synchronization primitives to keep playback aligned across devices to within milliseconds. Because it runs entirely in modern browsers, no app installation is required on any device, and it works across desktop and (experimental) mobile. A spatial audio feature lets users position a virtual listening source and adjust individual device volumes accordingly, creating directional sound effects across the room. The project is built as a Turborepo monorepo with a Bun-powered HTTP and WebSocket server, a Next.js frontend using Tailwind and Shadcn/ui, and a shared, type-safe schema package connecting client and server. Beatsync is self-hostable with a short setup process, and the hosted reference app is available at beatsync.gg. The project is in early, actively developed stages and welcomes issues and pull requests.
