About Armbian

This project builds a customized Armbian distribution for TV boxes and other ARM single-board computers that aren't officially supported by upstream Armbian. It preserves full compatibility with the official Armbian/Debian/Ubuntu ecosystem while adding support for Amlogic, Rockchip, and Allwinner SoCs, along with convenience commands for installing to eMMC, updating the kernel, managing swap, controlling LED displays, backing up/restoring the original Android system, and installing common software. Devices can run from TF/SD/USB or be flashed directly to eMMC, turning old Android TV boxes into general-purpose Linux servers.

Key Features

  • Custom Armbian builds for unofficially supported Amlogic, Rockchip, and Allwinner devices
  • Install to eMMC or run from TF/SD/USB
  • One-command kernel updates with automatic backup of the previous kernel
  • Built-in software center for one-click install/update/uninstall of Docker images and common apps
  • EMMC backup/restore tool to preserve the original Android TV system
  • LED display control and swap partition management commands
  • GitHub Actions support for building custom images and compiling kernels
  • Free and open-source under GPL-2.0
